Would you like to join our team? We are looking for a Communication Manager Research & Thought Leadership.

Function

As the Communication Manager Research & Thought Leadership at Antwerp Management School, you will divide your attention between our Research & Valorization business unit and our Marketing department, with a focus on Thought Leadership development. This way you support the exchange of knowledge between these two teams.

You actively look for news about our research and other activities, which will strengthen Antwerp Management School's Thought Leadership to the outside world. You know how to communicate scientific knowledge to a lay audience and you translate scientific reports and results into newsworthy stories for journalists and the general public. Where possible, you link up with current affairs and with existing courses within AMS. Your focus is on both national and international media.

For each news item, you look for the most suitable communication strategy to deliver the message to the right target audience. You pay attention to both “classic channels” (e.g. events, press releases…) and online and more innovative channels (e.g. podcasts, webinars, social media…).

You build an internal and external network consisting of (our in-house) researchers and faculty, journalists, press services of other institutions, partner companies and governments.

You advise, coach and support researchers and faculty in their communication processes. You help to make their publications and research results known to the right target group.

You ensure that all communication obligations within research projects are met. You manage and optimize the AMS research web pages and ensure that they are in line with the organizational strategy. In addition, you also set up marketing campaigns in the context of research where relevant.

Profile

You hold a master's degree and are experienced in PR, communication and/or marketing. Experience in science communication is a plus. Preferably you already have a network of media contacts.

You enjoy translating academic material into a clear message for journalists and a wide audience. You are able to capture the essence of a story or scientific results in a press release, blog, pitch or interview.

You can express yourself fluently and correctly in Dutch and English, both orally and in writing. Experience with copywriting and translation is an added value. A basic knowledge of French is a plus, because people across the language border are also interested in our research.

You are curious and have a critical view of the world. You follow current events closely and you have a good nose for news (value).

You are flexible. If necessary, you are available for journalists outside office hours and on weekends.

You are a loyal team player who can also work independently.

You are good at project management, tight deadlines don't discourage you.

You have an entrepreneurial spirit, you take responsibility and you are enthusiastic about the search for a creative and innovative approach. You have a hands-on mentality and are good at networking, both inside and outside the organization.

A good knowledge of digital communication (e.g. social media, data analysis, email marketing, website management) is recommended. You can work smoothly with MS Office. Experience with Hubspot and/or Craft CMS is a plus. Learning new online programs and applications does not deter you.
